Before you can run any reports, you need to create folders for your input and output files in a file system.

The supported file systems are:

File system type	Accessible via UI	Backup strategy
ReportMagic File System	Yes	Nightly, 7 days retention
SharePoint Connection	Yes	See your SharePoint administrator
SFTP Connection	Yes	See your SFTP server administrator

Creating Folders

To create folders in ReportMagic:

1. Click Files
2. In the left pane, on the root or an existing folder, right-click and from the menu that appears, click New Folder
3. Name the input folder where you will store your report templates and any other files you might be using, such as images or CSV files. Note that when running a Schedule, ReportMagic loads into memory everything from this location, including files in subfolders. Tip: store unnecessary files in a subfolder named Archive. ReportMagic will ignore any such archive folders, and your Schedule will start more quickly
4. Create a second folder for output where the automatically-generated reports will be saved

Uploading Files

To upload files to an input folder in ReportMagic:

1. On the Files page, in the left pane, click the required input folder to open it
2. In the right pane, right-click on some blank space and from the menu that appears, click Upload Files
3. Either drag the files to the location, or click Select Files and navigate to and select the file(s) required then click Open
4. Now set up a schedule that uses the folders containing these files

Restoring From Backups

Consider:

• Keeping a local copy of your templates
• Storing previous versions in a ReportMagic archive folder to return to if needed
• Should you need to, contact us for assistance in restoring accidentally deleted or changed files
