LogicMonitor Graph Examples

We are monitoring our customer's systems in LogicMonitor and want to include the graphs in a monthly report to the customer. How do I add the graphs with ReportMagic?

With the [LogicMonitor.Graph:] macro, designed for this purpose, you can either display LogicMonitor graphs or create your own graphs.

If you want to display an existing LogicMonitor graph for a single device, you will need to know the device's name or Id, the graphName or Id, and the DataSource to which the graph is attached. Here's where in LogicMonitor to find this information:

Get the exact name or the deviceId from the device's Info tab - system.displayname or system.deviceId
Display the graph you require and from the drop down menu, click Graph definition.
This will give you the DataSource name (in the tree pane) and the graph name. Tip: Ensure you use the Graph Name and not the Graph Title:

You now have all the information you need for the macro, so try running the macro in Report Studio. For the above example the macro would be:

[LogicMonitor.Graph:devices=PDL-TEST, graphName=Memory Utilization Percent, DataSourceName=WinOS, overridePaletteType=LogicMonitor]

The graph produced will appear like this:

ReportMagic uses a default time period of the last calendar month. If, in LogicMonitor, you change your time range to Last calendar month, you will see the LogicMonitor graph is the same as that shown in ReportMagic:

What if I want to show a different time period in my graph?

To specify a time period that is different to the default of last calendar month, use startDate and endDate:

[LogicMonitor.Graph:devices=PDL-TEST, graphName=Memory Utilization Percent, DataSourceName=WinOS, overridePaletteType=LogicMonitor, startDate=2023-06-02, endDate=2023-06-06 12:30]

Can I overlay the same graph for multiple devices on one graph with ReportMagic?

As long as the graph exists in LogicMonitor for each of the devices you specify, you can show more than one device on the same graph by naming them in the devices parameter, each one separated by a semicolon.
[LogicMonitor.Graph: devices=PDL-TEST;PDL-Backup, graphName=Memory Utilization Percent, DataSourceName=WinOs, overridePaletteType=LogicMonitor, chartTypes=Line]

You can also show a single graph of all devices in a group that have the same DataSource applied to them by using the devicegroup parameter instead of devices:

[LogicMonitor.Graph: devicegroup=Test Group, graphName=Memory Utilization Percent, DataSourceName=WinOs, overridePaletteType=LogicMonitor]

What if LogicMonitor doesn't have a graph of the data I want to show?

ReportMagic can create a graph of any data collected in LogicMonitor, even if LogicMonitor doesn't display a similar graph. Let's graph the number of bytes read and written per second to a device's C: Drive.

You will need to know the device's name or Id, the name of the datapoints you want to graph, and the DataSource that collected the data.

Looking in LogicMonitor, we find DiskReadBytesPerSec and DiskWriteBytesPerSec are collected for this C: Drive by a multi-instance DataSource whose display name is Logical Drive Performance and using a DataSource named WinLogicalDrivePerformance (-C is the instance)

To create a graph of the raw data, put -1 as the graphId to indicate that we want to create a new graph.

Now that we have all the information we need for the macro which looks like this:
