Merlin models

Which AI models Merlin can use for your Tenant depends on whose provider credentials pay for the answer: Panoramic Data's, or your organisation's own. This page is for Tenant Admins deciding how to set Merlin up. The Configuring Merlin for your Tenant page explains the settings.

Two kinds of credentials

Credentials When they are used Who pays the AI provider
Panoramic Data's Always on Merlin Free, and on Merlin Pro and Merlin Enterprise unless you use your own provider Panoramic Data. Your Merlin Subscription covers it, within the Merlin Free monthly allowance on Merlin Free
Your organisation's own On Merlin Pro and Merlin Enterprise, once a Tenant Admin chooses an AI provider Connection on the Merlin AI page and gives data egress consent Your organisation, directly to its provider

Which models are available on which credentials

Model On Panoramic Data's credentials On your own credentials
Merlin's own model, on hardware Panoramic Data owns and operates Yes, on every plan Not applicable
Models Panoramic Data serves through a third-party provider Yes, on Merlin Pro and Merlin Enterprise with data egress consent Not applicable
Claude Fable 5.1 No Yes, through your own Anthropic (Claude) Connection
Claude Mythos 5.1 No Yes, through your own Anthropic (Claude) Connection, where your Anthropic account has access to it

Claude Fable 5.1 and Claude Mythos 5.1 cost too much for Panoramic Data to serve on its own credentials, so they are available only when your organisation uses its own AI provider credentials. Your provider then bills you directly for what they use.

Using Claude Fable 5.1 or Claude Mythos 5.1

  1. Check that your Tenant is on Merlin Pro or Merlin Enterprise: go to Tenant, then Subscriptions in the Admin app
  2. Create an Anthropic (Claude) Connection for your Tenant, naming the model in its Configuration, as the Configuring Merlin for your Tenant page explains
  3. Go to Tenant, then Merlin AI, choose that Connection under AI Provider, give data egress consent, and Save

Merlin then answers with your provider, and ends each answer with a line naming the model, such as Answered by claude-fable-5-1 on your organisation's own AI provider.

If an assistant asks for one of these models without your own credentials

An assistant can name the model it should use. If it names Claude Fable 5.1 or Claude Mythos 5.1 while your Tenant is on Panoramic Data's credentials, Merlin still answers, using Merlin's own model, and adds a note saying that the model needs your organisation's own AI provider credentials and that a Tenant Admin can choose an AI provider Connection on the Merlin AI page in Admin.

If your Tenant stops using its own provider, for example because its Connection is deleted, Merlin carries on answering with its own model rather than failing.
