Meraki DataMagic - Config Templates
Introduction
The Config Templates page shows details for all configuration templates in the selected part of the Estate Tree.
About Configuration Templates
A Meraki configuration template is a feature in the Cisco Meraki cloud management platform that allows network administrators to create a single, base configuration for Meraki devices (like security appliances, switches, or access points) and apply it across multiple sites or networks simultaneously.
The primary purpose of using a configuration template is to:
- Enforce Consistency: Ensure that all bound networks share the same core settings, which is essential for uniform security policies, Wi-Fi SSIDs, and network access rules across a distributed environment (e.g., a chain of retail stores or branch offices).
- Streamline Deployment: Rapidly deploy new sites by simply binding a new network to the existing template, inheriting its configuration instantly.
- Simplify Management: Make mass configuration changes by editing the template just once. The changes "trickle down" and are automatically pushed to all networks that are bound to it.
