DataMagic Syncs - Admin
Within the Admin App, the DataMagic menu section contains two sub-menu items:
- Syncs
- Sync Executions
Syncs
Syncs provide a way to synchronise the LogicMonitor portal data (all Devices, Websites, and much more) into a local Magic Suite database, which can then be used by ReportMagic to directly query data via SQL.
This can make monthly report runs much faster, because, once the initial sync has occurred (which might happen once a month and take several days), the data is immediately accessible in a secure location and doesn't need to be queries again.
This is handy if you have dozens of reports, all of which are basically accessing the same data in various different ways. For example, rather than each report making a query for Device A directly via the LogicMonitor API (using ReportMagic macros), which takes longer than a direct database query, the data can be accessed almost immediately and hence the reports will complete more quickly.
The Syncs page allows you to create and manage Syncs. For example, you can specify the LogicMonitor portal to use (via a LogicMonitor Connection), and also trigger another Sync or Schedule once it has finished. You can also manually trigger the Syncs or set a schedules time (via a CRON).
